About Palmyra
Fire Department

Palmyra Fire Station was built by volunteer firefighters and established in 1953 and has since provided the residents of Palmyra with prompt and professional fire and rescue services.  Palmyra Fire Department has a rich history of service and commitment to visitors and residents.  Our team of brave firefighters is proud to serve the township and its people. We pride ourselves on our quick response to all alarms. Our community is our priority and we aim to be an integral part of keeping you safe.

In dangerous situations, every second counts, so firefighters must think and act quickly in order to avoid tragedies.  Our training is focused around speed and proficiency - put to use through our response to every call we receive, regardless of when or where.

Our department is proud to provide a number of services for the community. We provide an array of community outreach programs in order to educate children and the public about fire prevention and safety. From educational classes to safety checks, we consider it our duty to keep all citizens of all ages aware and protected.

Fire Chief

Mark Garvin

IMG_6743.PNG

I am a life time resident of Palmyra Township. I am a third-generation firefighter for Palmyra Township, following in the footsteps of my grandfather, Elbert Tomlinson, a founding member of the department, and my father, Jerry Garvin who served as Assistant Chief.

I began my service with the department as a senior at Southeast High School in 1979.

I have served and learned this job from many knowledgeable Chiefs. I have been Chief of our township’s department since July 2012.

I hold Firefighter Level 2 Certification and EMT Advance Certification to serve our wonderful community.

I have served with a great number of township members over the last 43 years that have helped me become a caring member of your township fire department.

Willingness to leave my family day or night to help a neighbor in need has shown me personal growth, insight and love for our township residents.

I look forward to continuing my service to each of you for many years to come.

Thank you, Chief Mark Garvin
